Camp Rainbow Gold has a long-term vision of owning a location for a camp for Idaho's children diagnosed with cancer and their families. The camp needs the stability of ownership in order to run a first-rate medical camp and increase the number of weeks and camps it can offer campers, rather than turning away campers that want to attend, which is unfortunately the case today. Building a Camp Rainbow Gold forever home is critical to the camp’s future success.
After close to two years and an exhaustive process of discovery and investigation, a property in East Fork meets our criteria for the future permanent home of Camp Rainbow Gold.
The Camp Rainbow Gold Board of Directors agreed on a list of property attributes. Those attributes are:
- Sufficient and quality land
- Access to medical facilities
- Proximity to Wood River Valley
- Aesthetic beauty
- Financially attainable
- Seclusion with access
- River or pond
- Available utilities
- Minimal liabilities
- Capable of supporting camp facilities
A Camp Rainbow Gold donor who owns a portion of the land announced a $1,750,000 challenge gift that will help to launch our campaign effort. This challenge gift will be fulfilled once we are able to secure an additional $2,000,000 in philanthropic support. Overall, our Phase I goal for this effort is to raise $10,000,000, which will allow us to acquire the East Fork property and begin to build the future of Camp Rainbow Gold.
